鏡花水月

“ The moon does not fight. It attacks no one. It does not worry. It does not try to crush others. It keeps to its course, but by its very nature, it gently influences. What other body could pull an entire ocean from shore to shore? The moon is faithful to its nature and its power is never diminished. ”

Deng Ming-Dao, Everyday Tao: Living with Balance and Harmony

Selenic Cynic

Sometimes, people are born to eventually do great things. Then, there are the ones that were born great, and create a sense of changing world, from the time they are able to understand their power, until the moment they take their last breath.

For Gaara, it’s the latter. And, for him, his world is ever-changing.

He and his siblings are born into wealth, but simplicity is key for the quiet redhead. Simplicity. . .

And fear.

Born prematurely, Gaara grew to be smaller than the average person of his school-starting age and, as a result, attracts attention of the unwanted variety. The victim of bullying brought out the wrath of overprotective parents, who wanted absolutely nothing but the best for their youngest child. Because of this, he never had to verbally defend himself — they would do so for him. When trauma was triggered, they were there, and he felt safe, being able to hide within the comfort of their shadow as they battled his demons as they haunted his light. Within a year, it becomes commonplace — a shake or nod of the head, outright ignoring, and continuous refusal to do anything more than be left to his own devices; it confirms what everyone around him already knew.

A five-year-old, diagnosed with selective mutism, bought about by social anxiety.
For the prodigy, this is fine.
For the genius, this is fine.
For the one with unmatched talent, this… is fine.

Being left alone gives him the freedom that he desires to further grasp his one true love and run with it. His parents often joked that he came into the world singing, but pudgy hands grew into ones with slender, trained fingers that knew strings better than they knew their owner and, somewhere during his early teens, they realised that their world — their little moonshine — actually did enter this life with a song in his blood.

It’s the one song that never failed to make him happy;
the one he would never stop playing.

A most trusted childhood friend. Annoying, at times, but with the biggest heart. In his opinion, there's not a person that deserves her love - not even him - but, he supports her happiness more than anything.

Before all others, he's loyal to her. When she calls, he comes running. . .

No matter what.

“I love you,” he says again, “and no other man will ever say those words and mean them the way I do.”

― Krista Ritchie, Ricochet

Oh, how she seeks to tame the Beast, without knowing exactly what she's asking for. Still, she's scaling his walls with utmost grace; and he's down the rabbit hole, experiencing a Wonderland only they know.

The prettiest Babydoll, down to the cigarettes she smokes that match her hair.

“Admiration: Our feeling of delight that another person resembles us.”

― Evan Esar

Sure, he may have an older brother; but, family isn't always about blood. Family happened to come to him in the form of an older Uchiha. One as quiet as he, and who put his intelligence to use, in order to understand. He never forced, never pushed and, for that, he settled himself within the arms of our dear redhead's trust and silent admiration.

He isn't called on often but, when he is, he can always be counted on.

“Respect for ourselves guides our morals; respect for others guides our manners.”

― Laurence Sterne

She's tough, but there is no one more reliable. He's mean to her, but his intentions are pure. Though there is a sibling between them, it's her that he connects with easiest, and it's her that he'll fight for, with, and against. It's never spoken, but always said:

For her, he will.

“...our most constant and enduring relationships are with our siblings. After all, they're the ones who stick around our whole lives — even when we are complete trainwrecks.”

― Kate Hakala
